Significant Performance Breakthrough for TFO LightBend Plus? +Super-micro G.657.A2 172μm fibre

      Following the successful launch of TFO LightBend Plus? +Super-micro G.657.A2 172μm fibre at the end of 2020, has achieved a significant breakthrough in fiber performance after three years of continuous research and development. This advancement has enabled the cable R&D department to successfully develop the LTMC-X-172A2 192F air-blown microcable. This innovative achievement adopts a groundbreaking “tight tubing” structure design, optimizing material combinations and production processes. While maintaining the technical advantages of high-density integration of 192-core ultra-small optical fibers, the cable outer diameter is reduced to an industry-leading 5.1mm, its cross-sectional area is nearly 70% smaller than that of conventional process air-blown microcable with 245μm fiber. The product has been verified by multiple parties and, in addition to maintaining good optical transmission performance and mechanical properties, demonstrates particularly excellent low-temperature environmental performance.

      This innovative achievement has formed a complete technical system. Technical papers analyzing fiber and cable performance, as well as sharing cabling experience, were presented and promoted at the IWCS conferences in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Furthermore, the core manufacturing technology supporting this product has passed the rigorous review of the European Patent Office and was officially granted a patent in February 2025. This marks TFO’s establishment of independent intellectual property protection in the microcable field, providing another innovative solution for the high-density deployment of global optical fiber networks.
